IT IS TIME TO RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP WITH ACBS FOR 2017!

Dear ACBS Member and supporter,

Happy 2017! We are writing to sincerely thank you for your support of the American Council of Blind Students (ACBS) over the past year. We truly appreciate your valuable gifts of time, membership, and monetary contributions. Without you, we could not have accomplished our important goals in 2016. Here are a few achievements of which we would like to highlight:

• We officially obtained 501C3 tax exempt non-profit organization status (Tax ID: 45-3810892), a title never been held by ACBS. This is a significant accomplishment for all monetary contributions to be tax deductible under the IRS code;
• We sent a delegation of students to the American Council of the Blind Midyear Seminar, where we held a fun and popular trivia night fundraiser which raised over $500;
• We coordinated a series of informative and successful events at the 2016 ACB Conference and Convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Our programming included a collaboration with Guide Dog Users, Inc. for a discussion panel covering the Guide Dog team experience as a college student and information for prospective young Guide Dog users; Put Your Best Look Forward"-a Dress For Success type of hands on workshop for men and women; and a presentation from a LinkedIn representative on the networks capabilities and tools. Annually, at every National convention ACB Students hosts a Students Welcome Party to meet and mingle, and a Scholarship Luncheon to honor and congratulate the year's scholarship winners;
• We hosted several well-attended and useful phone conferences on different topics such as going to college with a guide dog, getting an ACB scholarship, and how to navigate the dating social scene with a visual impairment.

With 2017 well underway, it is once again time to renew your membership in ACB Students. Your 2017 membership will help us achieve even more to benefit blind and visually impaired students, including:

• Raising funds for a first-timer scholarship to convention;
• Presenting educational seminars, and holding a spectacular convention in Rino, Nevada;
• Strengthening relationships with ACB state and special-interest affiliates in ways that will be mutually beneficial to our student members and to the national organization at large.

A membership in ACBS costs just $15.00 per person per year, and it entitles you to vote and run for board positions at all ACBS business meetings and elections, as well as receive the ACB Braille Forum, the national magazine of the American Council of the Blind. This year, we are excited to announce that with a generous donation, students that renew their memberships on or before March 1, 2017 will be entered into a drawing for one of the following gift cards:

• $25 gift certificate to a rideshare service of your choosing (Uber/Lyft)
• $15 Amazon.com gift certificate
• $10 Starbucks gift certificate

To renew or start a membership with ACBS, please fill out an application at the following link:
